Dreamworks released a new animated adventure, Abominable, about a girl wishing for an escape and finding it the wildest place. That girl Yi (Chloe Bennet, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), finds a yeti on the roof of her building in Shanghai. It’s obvious that the creature is far from home. So, Yi and her friends
Jin (Tenzing Norgay Trainor) and Peng (Albert Tsai) take the yeti, whom they name Everest, home to that very same mountaintop.
The villains in this story are a megalomaniac (voiced by Eddie Izzard) and a zoologist (voiced by Sarah Paulson). They kidnapped Everest from his home for nefarious reasons, and now they want him back.
The film’s trailer reveals some gorgeous scenery and whimsical violin music that is actually magic in the movie. I am hoping that this film comes with a soundtrack that the kids will love. Some moms out there need a new soundtrack to replace the Moana we are still rocking for adamant kids. (Some moms may be just me, but I like to think I am not alone.)
Abominable is written and directed by Jill Culton (Open Season, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story 2) and is produced by Suzanne Buirgy (Kung Fu Panda 2, Home). Peilin Chou of Pearl Studio also produces. The film is executive produced by Tim Johnson (Over the Hedge, Home, ANTZ), Frank Zhu (Checked In, Lotus Code) and Li Ruigang (Kung Fu Panda 3, The Taking of Tiger Mountain) and is co-directed by Todd Wilderman (Trolls, The Croods).
Abominable comes to theaters September 27. Take a look at the trailer and tell us what you think.
